APP Year 4 Long Hai Trip 2017

16 March 2017

What a wonderful time everyone in Year 4 had last week! It was time for our annual residential trip to Long Hai and for many of our children, this was their first opportunity to travel away from home without parents!

The buses left APP early on Wednesday and we reached the resort before lunch time. This gave us a couple of hours to play with our friends from TX who had been staying at the resort since Monday morning and were leaving that afternoon. The Year 4 children from both campuses had lunch together and then we waved good-bye to TX and headed to our rooms to unpack.

Over the next 3 days there were 6 rotation activities including swimming, sand castle building, yoga, observational drawing, shelter building and a treasure hunt. The children could also choose to play beach games, head to the pool or just spend time with friends during ‘free time’ on each afternoon before dinner.

Evening entertainment was not lacking either! On the first night, the whole year group headed to the beach for a sing-a-long around a camp fire lead by Ms Fran. Afterwards, there was a battle of the minds in Mr David’s quiz. On Thursday evening, Mr Cian put on a disco which included a talent show and a dance off!

Amongst all of the fun, this trip was the perfect opportunity for the children to prove themselves as independent, organised individuals. Each child rose to the challenge and many teachers around the school have already commented on how mature and grown up this year group now seems. Many happy memories were made with old friends, and many new friends were made as well!
