Milepost One’s swimming gala was held on Tuesday this week with all children, teachers and parents enjoying every splash!  Competitive sports are so valuable to the development of a child’s confidence and self-esteem.  The smiles on the children’s faces also highlight the fun and energy that the swimming galas brings.

Having spent most of my career working in secondary and high schools, at TX I am constantly amazed by what younger students are capable of. This amazement was evident again on Tuesday afternoon as our smallest children took to the water to compete for their house.

The standard of swimming from some of our 6 year old students was outstanding and you can easily tell they will become part of our elite group of BIS swimmers in the near future.

What also amazes me is the transformation in confidence and ability of all the children over a short space of time. In December most of our Year 1 students hadn’t ventured into the deep end, let alone flung themselves in and complete full lengths using just a float. However, that is exactly what each student in Year 1 did, and it is just as big an achievement as the stronger swimmers who were winning their races.

Our swimming program is a fantastic way of contributing to the growth of our students. It pushes our youngest children out of their comfort zones and makes them have to overcome a little bit of fear and trepidation. A huge well done to all of Milepost 1. The results of the gala are below.

Final Results;

1st Place: DALAT

2nd Place: SAIGON

3rd Place: HANOI

4th Place: HUE

A big thank you to all teachers and parents who helped or attended on Thursday afternoon.
