Mr Ben Moermond, principal bassoon player for the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra spent time at all three campuses this week, giving short performances and answering student’s questions about the bassoon. An unusual, and rarely seen instrument in this part of the world. Ben previously studied performance at the Juilliard School and is the latest of their alumni to visit BIS HCMC and work with our students.
All of our students from Fundinotots upwards were given the opportunity to learn about the bassoon, the lowest instrument in the woodwind family. A fantastic musical and educational experience for all involved, as Ben ran a series of performances, demonstrations, instrumental lessons, and question and answer sessions.!
