Parents’ Corner – 23/6/17

23 June 2017

The last week of the term was once again packed with a lot of activities. Before closing the book on 2016/17 academic year, I invite you to read a reflection on the year by our Class Reps, look at the wonderful photo from the Y6 leavers’ party and the surprise for Ms Emma.

My Year as a Class Rep

On behalf of the TX community I would like to thank all our wonderful Class Reps who have done a great job during the school year bringing the community closer and developing friendships.  Thank you for sharing photos and reflections of your year with the parent group at TX.

"Being a Class Representative is a great opportunity to be involved in the school and to meet other parents. I'm glad to be part of BIS TX PTG!”

Gigi, Y2T

Parent Corner (5)

Year 4 had such a memorable year together with our great teachers Mr Mike and Ms Ellie.

As 4T Class Rep, I also enjoyed working with Ms Mai, Y4X Class Rep, and the other Class Reps at TX to support events. Next year we will move to the AP campuses but TX PTG, our spirit will remain the same and will bring a warm family atmosphere to the new campus!”

Akiko, Y4T

“I have felt so blessed to be part of the TX PTG and have received lots of encouragement and support from the beloved parents of the Y1X class. Contributing my efforts to the class activities and preparing presents for Teachers, TAs and Specialist Teachers during Teachers’ Day is a great memory for me.”

Duyen, Y1X

“Last year, we celebrated Mr. Mike's new born baby Jo. This year, we celebrated Mr. Rob's new born baby Eddie. 5T kids & parents were glad to share this great moment. As 5T Class Rep, without Ms. Van's & the parents' support, I couldn't have made it. Thank you so much!

Year 6 will start with new classmates and new class names; 6B and 6I. However, friendships never change.”

Minori, Y5T

“The best part of being a co-Class Rep was the chance to meet other Class Reps too! And planning parties for kids together with Minori and Milepost Class Reps made it even more fulfilling.”

Adeline, Y5T

“Time flies, this class is going to end and it has left so many good memories. In the position of Y1T class rep, I love receiving support from the kind parents, working with teachers and being instructed by Mr. Andy who is the real teacher.

Sincere thanks to TX PTG because I learned lots from you all. Your kindness gives me more power to complete all the tasks. Being with you in social activities will never be forgotten…”

Lan, Y1T

“Class Reps are the bridge of communication between school and parents, I am privileged to be one of them. It is totally rewarding being given the opportunity to help our busy parents to provide them instant information they need to know about their children and our school.

Doing things together as ONE happy family for the friendship of the children is a memory that will last a lifetime.

I couldn’t have done amazing things without our parents’ support. Thank you all xox.”

Eva, Y2X

Parent Corner (4)

“I have enjoyed and felt the responsibility and pressure at the same time and this is definitely a memorable school year for me being a Class Rep for the F3 classes.  It's my pleasure to keep parents informed of the school and class updates and events and to act as a connector between parents and the school.  Thanks for all the support from parents, Mr John and Ms Hayley, we coordinated and organised fun and meaningful events for the kids and teachers.  I'm inspired by the social responsibility tasks led by school teachers and PTG and delighted to join some of the activities.  Getting to know and be part of the strong friendship circle within the TX PTG is another highlight of being a Class Rep.  Thank you everyone for your kindness and being an inspiration.”

Thuy, F3

“Another school year has passed. Looking back, what we have done makes me proud to have been a part of it. We are small (compared with other campuses in the BIS family), but we are strong. This is the second year I have been a Class Rep and I can see our parent group growing year by year with more contributions to community projects and more activities. The most memorable experiences to me are joining with other parents in the choir group and in the TX fete team. They make me "grow" too!

I'd like to say thank you to all parents in my class and other Class Reps, especially the MP2 team who have always supported and coordinated with me during the year.

Once again, keep calm and support BIS TX!”

“For Year 6, This is the final week in TX primary. On Wednesday, we organised the "Y6 Leavers' party" and had a wonderful time together.  I would like to thank everyone!”

One of the best times of the year is when you have a class party! Here is a link to see photos taken this week at TX: https://goo.gl/photos/o7RHjgiNk6a8jpN2A

Surprise, Surprise

We already know TX is going through many changes before being “reborn” on a new location with a new name. Among one of these changes is Ms Emma’s new position, which means that we’ll see her less at TX during the first term next year. Therefore, parents wanted to congratulate her on her new job (you’ll be awesome Ms Emma!) and show how much her work at TX has been appreciated over the years. At the end of assembly, parents gathered to surprise Ms Emma with flowers, a card and a frame so she’ll never forget the fantastic years at TX.

Uniform Collection and Book Collection:

Thank you for bringing your old and unwanted uniform to school this week. The APP team was pleased to receive your donations and, after the summer, we are once again hoping to host one of their pop up stores in TX.

Thank you Y6s for giving away your books to the TX community. If you did not have time to select some from your personal library, you’ll have another opportunity in September when you are at APS. Have a nice summer and enjoy secondary!

Thank you Ms Alicia for supporting and helping the Parents this year in all the community service projects they were involved in. It was highly appreciated. We also would like to welcome and congratulate Ms Kirstine who is taking the position as Community Service Leader at the TX campus.

Message from Duyen our Parent Musical Director

“Time flies! We are going to say goodbye to the school year 2016-2017 very soon. This year end has given me a special feeling as I may not see the same smiles, the same faces in front of the TX Gate and inside school from next school year. Looking back on all the year activities, I have been so touched and I am so thankful for being given the chance to be in this wonderful school. From Mr. Ian, Ms. Mary, Ms. Emma to Teachers Mr. Jon Music, Ms. Hayley, Mr. John, Ms. Holly, Mr. Andy, Mr. Steve, Mr. Mathew, Ms. Alicia ... to parents, supporting staff, cleaners, canteen staff, security guards, all have been very kind and nice to me and my child.  I have been very blessed to have great support from parents, not only in class Y1X, but also from the parents in Fundinos, MP1, MP2 and MP3.  Whenever I ask for their help in school events such as International week, Teachers’ Day, Christmas concert, TX Family Day, PDV project... all have left a nice footprint in my heart. I wish our TX community will be the same forever, but nothing will be exactly the same except the love and trust. I hope that the song, "If we hold on together" will never be forgotten. Thank you Anne for making our dream to build a strong TX PTG come true".

Welcome and Welcome Back Coffee Morning

Before wishing you a wonderful summer, here is a gentle reminder of how we’ll start the next academic year at TX.

For the third year the “Welcome and Welcome Back Morning Coffee” will be happening on the first day of school, Wednesday 23rd August. It’s again a potluck style event, please bring some breakfast items to share, meet the new teachers, catch up with your friends and welcome the new parents. So please join Ms Mary and Mr Ian in the foyer from 8am to 9am.

Set up will start at 7.45am.

APP’s coordinator, Nicky, has kindly invited all TX parents to join the “Welcome Morning Coffee” in the APP canteen on Thursday 24th August from 8am to 10pm. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet your future children’s friends’ parents! You’ll see friendly faces as former TX parents are also in the two other campuses.

This year, it has been my pleasure to update the community from the parents’ side. Looking back to 3 years ago, step by step we have been building a stronger bond. The first few years were mainly about getting to know one another by having events and lunches, supporting the school with the International week and then adding another brick: the Class Reps. Finally, this year we all get more involved in the community service projects, which was very rewarding.

It’s now time to wish you all a fantastic summer and don’t forget August 23rd is the “Welcome and Welcome Back Coffee Morning”. Until then, enjoy the holidays!

Anne on behalf of the Parent Group
