Back in “Business”: Book Swap Ahead!

Now children have settled down into their school routine, parents can start planning the first event of the term; the ‘Book Swap’. It’s the third edition already!  Can you believe it?!

  • Book Swap
  • Book Swap Meeting
  • Book Swap Meeting 2

On Friday morning, a team gathered to start planning the book swap, which will start on Thursday 5th October after the book week celebration.  Each year they have had a new feature to make it more interesting and to link it with the community service.  However, for this year edition, they were not sure about what to add and the group asked for some help.  Ms Kirstine, Ms Alicia and Mr Luke came to the rescue with great ideas such as “blind date bucket”, “Live readings by Ms Mary and Mr Ian”, “TX graffiti wall” etc…The list was long and the team had to make choices.

But, before telling you more, first things first: the book collection!

It will take place from Monday 18th September to Friday 22nd September in the foyer.  Please bring all your unwanted books, in good condition and donate them to the collection.  Books can be in Vietnamese, English or any other language.  Volunteers are also needed to receive the books.  Please have a look at the schedule and sign up online or message Anne.  For the record, last year 650 books were collected and 150 books were donated to Poussières de Vie, so let’s beat that number!

Please access the volunteer sign-up sheet here:

APP Upcycle Uniform

Don’t leave the old uniforms in your closet, bring them so they get a second life.  Please read this post from APP to know more about the project

Collection boxes for TX will be in the foyer again soon.

Settling-In Workshop

This is a workshop for new families to BIS and HCMC.  It will be held on Tuesday 5th September at 8.15am, in the Multi-Purpose Room at the An Phu Primary Campus (APP) in District 2.  Mr Simon (Head of APP), Ms Dee (Deputy Head of APP) and our Admissions team will be hosting this workshop for all new families across our two primary campuses.  All new families are invited to this workshop which provides the opportunity to meet new parents, connect with each other and pick up a few ideas on how to settle your children (and family) into the new school, new city and maybe even new country.

Social Night for TX and APP campuses

On Thursday 21st September from 7:00pm to 10:00pm there will be an APP and TX social event where parents and teachers from both campuses can begin to meet each other.  The venue will be confirmed next week. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with teachers and parents in a relaxing place and enjoy a drink and some food.  Tickets will be at 300,000 VND (two drinks and canapés included) and will be available at TX soon.

Before wishing you a great extended weekend, let’s welcome back Adeline and her family. They will spend the weekend in Ho Chi Minh City before returning to Singapore. It will be lovely to see them again. Once BIS, always BIS.

Have a fantastic weekend.

Anne,on behalf of the PG.
