The Computing department at BIS is an exciting and supportive place to work. In KS3 we teach a mixture of ICT and Computing and we are gradually moving the curriculum towards more computing projects, including more STEAM activities and using devices such as Micro:bits and robotics. Teaching independent problem solving through various topics is a key aim for the department, allowing students to learn from mistakes, take risks and be challenged. The department aims to create learning spaces where the students can explore, be creative and thrive. The Computing department’s profile is ever increasing within the school and we are constantly looking at ways to further develop interest in the subject outside the classroom, recentexamples include entering the Bebras challenge 2018, FOBISIA coding competition, and creating weekly computational thinking problems for students across the school.
