BIS Community Quiz

We are privileged at the British International School Ho Chi Minh City to have a vibrant Community Service programme of projects spanning the full spectrum of the school curriculum.

BIS HCMC Community Service Project with Thien Phuoc

We currently partner with more than 30 different local organisations as we endeavour to engage and empower the local community, bringing about positive social change.  BIS students have spent time getting to know children within these communities and many have developed close friendships which have led to strong connections with each of our partners.

Although fundraising is not the focus of our programme, throughout the year the school PTG committees arrange events which do raise a substantial amount of financial support for our partners.  Due to the restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 crisis, many of these events were cancelled resulting in our partners not receiving the aid they so desperately need, especially during this challenging time.

In an effort to raise some much needed funds for our partners, we organised a BIS Online Community Quiz which took place on Tuesday 26th May. Participants were encouraged to pledge a donation with all funds received going directly to our community partners so that they can continue meeting the basic needs of many disadvantaged children. We're pleased to announce that in total we raised VND 43,100,000 with another  VND 14,105,000 in pledges to collect, creating an anticipated total of VND 57,205,000.

One of the projects we have been working on is delivering food hampers to the shelters working with Friends for Street Children. We have already donated over 600 hampers and our aim is to do the same for our other partners using the money raised.

As we have raised more than we had budgeted for to provide the food relief, we will also be working with our partners to address other specific needs.

Thank you to everyone who took part in this special community event, your kindness really does make a difference.
