Under the Sea!

Under the Sea! | BSB Sanlitun - Under the Sea

Our Reception children have had a great start to our new topic, ‘Under the Sea’. We had so much fun naming lots of different sea creatures, comparing and exploring their differences. The children talked about their favourite sea animal and explored different textures through play with water, salt dough and shells.

We read ‘Sharing a shell’ by Julia Donaldson and we talked about how wonderful it is that we can share with our classmates. The children loved doing actions to the story and they learnt new words and spotted initial sounds. We are so proud to see how the children are using the sounds they have learnt in Phonics to hear and recognise sounds in words.

The Reception children have also been doing lots of counting in the classes. Counting sea creatures, shells and water beads. We worked on one-to-one correspondence and practiced listening to sounds and making actions to match to the right number.
