Each month, one student from both Year 12 and Year 13 are selected from IBDP subject groups based on them displaying traits from the IB Learner Profile. The IB Learner Profile represents 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools. We believe these attributes can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities.  The winners each month receive the accolade of winning, a 100RMB gift card and their photos on display in the library for all of the school community to see.

February Winners in Group 5 - Mathematics

For the IB Learner Profile Trait THINKER, the Year 12 student of the month for February is Euiseong Kim (Jayden)

Mathematics Teacher Stephen Kulali said: “Jayden is a great thinker who does not shy away from sharing his skills in class with their peers. He is always ready to step forward to volunteer in any problem-solving tasks and remains positive in class even when he encounters difficulty. He generally exercises initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems with reasonable ease. He contributes to discussions in class in a meaningful way and does do not shy away from challenging questions. He will often experiment with different approaches to problem solving with a focus on obtaining the same outcome.”

For the IB Learner Profile Trait RISK-TAKER, the Year 13 student of the month for February is Maximillian Vassen.

Mathematics Teacher Stephen Kulali said “Maximillian is a risk-taker. This is evident through his approaching uncertainty with forethought and determination.  This has been displayed in different situations in class and out of class. He acts independently in exploring new knowledge in Mathematical ideas and strategies. He has demonstrated bravery, resilience, and considerable determination in approaching the unfamiliar subject content in Mathematics.”

Congratulations Jayden and Maximillian!
