Spanish students get a taste of Mexican traditions!

At BSB, we believe learning a language is also learning about the ins and outs of its culture.

The Mexican Festival “The Day of the Dead” is on 1^st and 2^nd November, and the Spanish students in the Global Languages Department, along with the Art Department have worked together to know more about this interesting Mexican tradition.  Let’s take a look at the interesting learning activities happening in Years 7 and 12 Spanish lessons!

Year 12 Spanish Ab Initio Intercultural Project 

Our students in Y12 Spanish Ab Initio have actually built a traditional Altar de los Muertos on display in the Global Languages Department corridor!  They have been researching meticulously to find each of the elements they have display in their picturesque Altar and its meaning before building it. This year the Altar has been dedicated to the famous Argentinian sportsman Diego Armando Maradona. 

Y12 students have also prepared very interesting activities to teach Y7 Spanish students about this colourful Mexican Festival and tradition. !Ven a verlo!

Year 7 Pan de Muertos Competition Bake

Congratulations! Jeina Anada, Fiona Branstatter, Maria Bruno and Alexander Hong are the winners of the Y7 Pan de Muertos competition bake. 

Big applause to these four students for always going a mile further. They demonstrate the IB Learner profile trait of Inquirers showing they earn skills independently with enthusiasm and natural curiosity.

We all had the opportunity to taste the delicious special breads. Well done!
