Reception has proven once again that we will not let switching to Virtual School Experience (VSE) stop us from working hard and participating in lessons. The children have done a fantastic job seamlessly transitioning from in person lessons to VSE with lots of positivity and enthusiasm. They have interacted openly with their friends and teachers, so that we can still feel connected during these uncertain times.
Stepping away from the computer, some children collected Fun Learning Interactive Packs (FLIP) from school and used them to expand their learning by practicing blending and working with shapes, like we are studying in Maths class. Some children also spread holiday cheer by thanking community service workers for their time and efforts with beautifully decorated cards. Parents have reported back that this put a smile on the face of all involved. The children were very creative with their time during this period, helping their parents in the kitchen and even helping their younger and older siblings with their schoolwork.
“Run run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread man!”
The children have had a wonderful time exploring ‘The Gingerbread Man’ story in Talk For Writing. We have learned new songs, role played different characters and practiced retelling the story in our own words. We explored rhyming words in the story and created story maps by sequencing the events from the original story. The children had the opportunity to design their own Gingerbread Man, using their creativity and imagination to create their own unique character for our learning.
