Year 9 putting French vocabulary into practise

Year 9 putting French vocabulary into practise - Year 9 putting French vocabulary into practise

French lessons are always full of rich, interesting cultural discoveries for our BSB Shunyi French students.

To celebrate the International Day of la Francophonie which took place on 20th March, Year 9 French students have been doing research on the different French speaking countries over the past two weeks. In order to share their findings, they have created amazing posters which were displayed on the Modern Foreign Languages corridor on the 3rd floor.

The students have also been learning cooking vocabulary through studying about the famous French “crêpes” (pancakes). During the week of 27th March, they were given the opportunity to have a real taste of French culture and show off their cooking skills by making their own “crêpes” !

The students worked hard in groups and competed against each other to make the best “crêpes”. This special class let the students realize that culture is part of the language and was a fun activity to finish an intense second term at BSB.

Practising French through cooking has made learning French more alive and a real colourful language experience.

BSB students study a range of different subjects starting from Year 7. This helps them to eventually choose which IGCSE subjects they are most excited to study for during Years 10 and 11. Developing in different languages is very important during this stage and students here have the option to study Mandarin, German, Korean, French and Spanish.
