Our final Little Learners session of the year was a joyful celebration of festive learning. Toddlers and parents joined together for a morning filled with stories, sensory play, and creative activities—all designed to support early childhood development.
The session began with a favourite holiday story, Dear Santa by Rod Campbell, read by Mrs Stark. Storytime is an important part of our Early Years approach, helping children build listening skills and language development while enjoying the magic of books.
After the story, families explored a range of festive activities. Children created Christmas cards with their parents, played with warm cinnamon cloud dough for calming sensory play, and painted candy-cane patterns using sponges and stamps. Laughter filled the room during the stocking pull game, where holiday treasures encouraged problem-solving and coordination.

These activities were more than fun—they were purposeful. Sensory experiences strengthen fine motor skills, festive colours and textures boost attention and curiosity, and celebrating together builds emotional security. These are key foundations for confident learners.
Learning doesn’t stop in the classroom. At home, parents can support development with simple hands-on activities:
· Bake cookies together—let your child scoop, press, or sprinkle.
· Read holiday books to encourage language growth.
· Create a “holiday treasure basket” with ribbons, pinecones, and bells for sensory exploration.
Our Little Learners programme is the perfect introduction to a school routine, helping toddlers feel safe, engaged, and ready for their Early Years journey.
