It’s all shaping up in Year 2

This week the children in the Year 2 classes have been learning about shape, in particular 3D shapes.

The children in the Alligators, Elephants, Monkeys and Pandas classes have been identifying the different 2D shapes found on 3D shapes as well as describing their properties and where 3D shapes can be seen in our everyday environments.

We have been reading the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the children have enjoyed hearing about all of Mr. Willy Wonka’s spectacular chocolate goodies. Inspired by the wonderful chocolatier, Mr. Wonka, the Year 2 children will be designing and making their very own chocolates to sell and will be making their own 3D packaging also.

The children have enjoyed using the polydrons to identify the nets of different 3D shapes and are very excited to get going, designing the packaging for the chocolates they will be making.
