What an amazing performance from the U9 Girls. After losing only two games out of over 30 this season, the girls were defiantly the favourites for the crowing champions. However after losing 1-0 in the first game the girls realised that other teams were just as hungry for those gold medals.

Thandie scored some awesome goals in the final match. Two in particular - one hooked high over the goalie's head and another one she hoofed it from about 10 metres away from the side line high off the ground. Amazing performance. Lynn was relentless in the midfield, chasing the ball down constantly. Bethan was a fantastic defence and extremely reliable. Emily had some amazing saves, was just solid and did some awesome free kicks finding the gaps through their defence. This enabled Thandie to take it up and keep the pressure going. Amelie and Isobelle were a constant support and kept going like they always do.

They weren't fazed by the longer time in play. Each of them had their moments and we just coaxed them back on to the pitch. And with Isobelle scoring a goal at the last minute, after the final whistle blew the Lionesses came away with a dominant 3-0 victory.

The girls came home with the gold medals they deserved and have set the bar high for Dover Lionesses throughout the school. The girls are looking forward to being promoted into the U10 Girls Football division starting in two weeks.
