School arrangements for Wednesday 9 December

08 十二月 2015

Dear Parents,

As I wrote to you last night, we have supported the Government red alert warning and closed the school for normal teaching today. We did not want to cause huge disruption for parents and students and therefore did have teachers in school as normal in order to accommodate those who did not have child care possible at such short notice.

We have of course continued to measure the pollution (PM2.5) throughout the building and continue to achieve classroom readings of between 15 and 30.

We therefore believe that, as it is the last week of term, and especially taking account of important mock examinations for secondary Years 10-13 after Christmas, we should offer normal lessons in primary and secondary school tomorrow and also run regular school buses as normal. A number of parents have said they would like/need their children to attend, but it is of course completely up to parents whether they believe they should keep their children at home. Although impossible to predict with accuracy, we expect the pollution to be around 250 once again and to clear on Thursday midday.

The Government red alert does of course remain in place, so the following is very important:

-          As with last week, our main issue with keeping the building with good air is the opening and closing of doors. Please visit school as little as you possibly can on bad air days, and please do not visit tomorrow unless essential;

-          There will be no ASAs or after school sports activities for the rest of the week;

-          We will be restricting pupil movement around the building as much as possible.

It is our intention that we should follow the same procedures on Thursday 10 December unless the situation changes radically. I will not write again regarding Thursday unless there is some change.

With thanks as ever for your support and best wishes

Andy Puttock
