Salina Sankar

English Teacher

I began my teaching career in South Africa and taught English and Afrikaans (an older version of Dutch). I left when my husband was posted to the UK. When I returned to South Africa I joined the South African Revenue Service and worked as the National campaigns manager. This area of work prompted me to pursue an MBA which I completed when we moved to the US where my husband worked for the SA mission to the UN. I joined the UN women’s organization as a volunteer and enjoyed 2 years of understanding first hand some of the pressures that such International organizations experience.

My academic qualifications are as follows: a teaching diploma, BA, BEd. and an MBa.

When we were moved to China, I once again had to leave work which I enjoyed and join the ranks of "TaiTai". At the end of 2012 I applied for a teaching position at BSB and am now happily employed as a Teacher of English. I have two children at the school. I still find time for the book club I joined 4 years ago. My other hobbies include following current affairs and politics.

'Be Ambitious' means that BSB encourages learners to take responsibility for their learning and this means that the school’s role is to create the opportunity and to then create ways for students to access these opportunities. To this end the school has developed into an organization that is an active social learning hub.
