“The Weekly BSB ” 2022-2023 Issue 1 - The Weekly BSB 2022 2023 Issue 1

The Primary Library has found a new home! Moving from the 1st and 2nd floor, BSB staff have been working hard over the Summer to move books and resources to join the Secondary library on the 3rd floor.

The Young Journalists interviewed Ms. Akosua Mireku, our Primary Librarian to find out what she thinks of the new library!

  1. Do you like the old library more or the new library more? - I really loved the old library. I miss it a lot. But the new library is fantastic. Because it has both Primary and Secondary and it is sometimes lovely to see both of them together.
  2. Do you enjoy being a librarian? - Yes. Very, very much. Because I love books; especially children books.
  3. What is an interesting part of being a librarian? - The most interesting part for me is I get to see all the children from Teddies to Year 6. And that makes it very special for me.
  4. What kind of books do you like? - I love mystery books especially murder mystery because I enjoy try to find out WHO DID IT!?
  5. What attracts you to be a librarian? - It mostly comes from me reading to my children and sharing the joy of books with my children.
  6. Do you think positively most of the time or negatively most of the time? Can you give an example? - That’s a very difficult question. I try to think positively most of the time. But once in a while, there will be one negative thought. As you see I am smiling most of the time, so I will say I think positively most of time.
  7. Do you enjoy working in a new library? Why? - Yes. Because with a lot of help from all the teachers, we had been able to make the library look really good and enjoyable, for all the children. I would like to get more children reading more books.

The children in Primary have already had a chance to experience the new Primary library and its spacious atmosphere – we can’t wait to use it all throughout the school year!

Ever since the field has been resurfaced, the Young Journalists have been curious as to whether students or staff like it or not. This week, we surveyed children throughout the primary school whether they enjoyed having brand new astro turf! The results are in…

  • 28% surveyed said they disliked the new field. The main reason was that the rubber pellets kept getting in their shoes and socks!
  • 72% liked the new field. Most people thought that it was softer and safer.

We asked Elli if she liked the new field or not. She claimed, “I really like the new field because it is softer and when we fall it won’t hurt at all.”

Anni also had something to say, stating, “I like the new field it is fun to play on but the I don’t like the rubber pellets because keep on get into my shoes!”

Clearly, although most love the new field it has taken some getting used to!
