Wow! What a fantastic day in New York City! The juniors headed to NYC on the Connecticut railway to Grand Central station. We then headed downtown to meet with our walking tour guide at the charging bull statue. The bull represents good luck financially if you touch a certain part of its anatomy. Following a few photographs at the bull we headed off on an insightful, history, walking tour of downtown Manhattan (or ‘Mana hat an’, native Indian meaning island with many hills). The tour took us to Battery park, Wall st and finished in the World trade memorial park. Following the tour we got on the subway and went to Times Square to take in the razzmatazz and do some souvenir shopping. Following a delicious late lunch, were returned home and went to the cultural evening at Yale.
Mr. Chris Planchant, Head of Year 11
This morning while the Juniors headed off to New York City, the Seniors took on the Scholars Bowl, testing all students with extremely difficult questions in a “game show” like scenario similar to a giant game of Kahoot! After which they collected their converted alpacas who joined us for picnic lunch.
The afternoon was filled with entertainment, as the Seniors stepped it up for the Talent Show followed by Yale alumni speakers imparting knowledge about their own journeys into university. Finally, this evening both the Juniors and Seniors visited the cultural fair to celebrate the 60 nationalities represented at the WSC Tournament of Champions!
