As you may know Nord Anglia has been hosting the Global Orchestra competition in conjunction with the Juilliard School of Music. For one week in June, three students from each school in the family will be sent to New York to take part workshops and performances hosted by Juilliard, culminating in a final performance by our Global Orchestra.
22 students from BISB auditioned to be part of the Nord Anglia Global Orchestra which will take place in New York at the end of June.
We would like to congratulate all the students for taking part. The Music department were really impressed by the standard of all the entrants and choosing those 5 students to go to the next round was an extremely difficult task.
The successful 5 students were Guen (voice) Year 11, Ben (voice) Year 12, Julian (cello) Year 8 , Nicole (violin) Year 9 and David (piano) Year 10.
The five students had their video performances and supporting statements judged by Nord Anglia. Three students have been chosen to attend the summer school in New York.
Julian in year 8 (Cello), Nicole in year 9 (Violin) and Guen in year 11 (Voice) have been selected to represent our school as musical ambassadors for the Global Orchestra. Hundreds of students were auditioned throughout our family of schools so this is a significant achievement. They were chosen both for their commitment to music and their dedication to the school community. Each one of them performed excellently in their audition which we hope you enjoy listening to and we wish them the best on their trip of a lifetime in June!
