BSKL’s Got Talent 2019

BSKL’s Got Talent returned for a second year in a row to thrill and entertain our students. The excited audience witnessed 10 incredible and varied performances from students in our secondary school.

The atmosphere was absolutely electric throughout the show!

These acts were chosen following the format of a traditional British talent show, were people are invited to audition any talent they wish to demonstrate.

We were wowed by singers, musicians, dancers and a gymnast! Thank you to all who competed and we congratulate (in no particular order) Shreya Ghoshal, Janette Zecha and Ke Yi Chai, who per formed a moving and well rehearsed performance of This Is Me ; Jyn Yi Ng and Nicole Teong Xin Yi who played and sung beautifully; and also Rebecca Kuan and Gayatre Maran who blew the audience away with their vocal range! BSKL Award students in year 9 organised the talent show and we’ve asked a few students from this team to share their experiences below:

My role backstage was to make sure all the props were ready for the next act or/and take them off when the acts were done. As I was the only one with the walkie talkie app on my side, I had to make sure my friends were ready and knew what we had to do and when. I most enjoyed the fact that I could build my independence and teamwork with how we had to work together to collect the props or help get the acts ready for their performance. I think the show went alright if not for a few technical difficulties.

I was the lighting manager at this year BSKL's Got Talent and I controlled the lights for the show. For me, the most challenging part was understanding the lighting desk and putting on and adjusting the right lighting for each act as well as the judges and hosts. I obviously learnt the basics of how to work with the lighting desk. I also learnt how to be more aware of what's going on on stage. My favourite part was learning new skills and being able to watch the acts from a different perspective than normal.

My role in the show is the Backstage Manager. I enjoyed this because I could help out contestants with their props and informing them when to come out and perform. I learnt lots of things while organising this event and also while this event happened, such as teamwork and leadership.
