Year 5 Viking Day

In order to end Year 5’s topic ‘Invaders and Settlers’, we held a Viking Day on Thursday 4th April.

The children took part in a range of activities such as longship building, making oatcakes in the Food Tech room and designing runes. At the end of the day, all of Year 5 took part in a reenactment of the Viking raid of Lindisfarne. They had to sail their longship to Lindisfarne and then search for any gold and jewels that they can find. Each house then had to ‘sail’ back with their gold and gems to see who found the most. The best house during the Viking invasion was the Saxons. Well done Saxons! The children had a great day and it was a fantastic way to end our topic. Thank you Miss Waters for organising an amazing day.
