This Children were absolutely fantastic in their participation and gave their very best during the competition rounds. Each child had to read 8 different Novels - The journey , Bad Guys , SuperNarwhal , Wearewonder, WolfWilder , Luna and me , Bubble boy and Wed Wabbit as part of preparation for the competition. These young pupils worked very hard throughout last term and were diligent in attending the Novel knockout enrichment.
Nerves were high and the excitement was evident on the children’s faces as this was a new team with all team members being first timers to Novel Knockout. Although the team lacked any previous experience with the Novel Knockout competition, both of our teams did extremely well. The competition started out with students working together in their teams to solve 80 MCQ questions while simultaneously answering 8 rounds of challenging open ended questions. On each round students were given an envelope containing question based on one Novel Knockout book and had 3 minutes to answer all 10 questiona. The two teams representing BSKL, were quick and enthusiastic in completing their quizzes in the given time.
The Novel Knockout competition this year was a challenging one with all teams scoring nearly full marks. The difference in score point was 0.4 from the the fifth place team to the first place winners. A total of 22 teams took part this year and gave it their very best, raising the bar of the competition when compared to previous years. We are so proud of our teams with BSKL 1 coming in 8th place finishing in the top ten and BSKL 2 coming in 13th. Both the teams did extremely well and we are so proud of them. Novel knockout this year also saw the biggest turnout in parents dropping in to cheer their children.
Thank you very much to everyone who took part, and to all parents who came to cheer the team on!
