Nord Anglia STEAM Festival

The annual Nord Anglia STEAM Festival is a chance for our students to collaborate with other schools in the region to celebrate and develop their skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

This year it took place on the 30th and 31st of March, and a group of BSKL students from Year 6 to Year 8 were selected to participate in person or virtually.

Over the course of two days, the students had to participate in a range of challenges such as coding, unscrambling messages, conducting very in-depth research, programming robots, digital designing, 3D modelling and much more to successfully complete the Mars Rover Mission. In those 2 days, they managed to build and design a habitation unit, a biodome, water and oxygen tanks and a communication tower whilst tackling the surprise challenges.

When asked about their experience with the festival, the students expressed their excitement:

"[Those] 2 days were full of excitement and curiosity. My team and I worked extremely hard to meet deadlines and produce excellent work. I couldn't have dreamt of working with another group. While working, we talked and laughed, it was really enjoyable! I am also really proud of our work and also definitely learnt a lot of things! Thank you Mr. Dunkin, Mr. Meadows and the STEAM team!" - Si Rui, Year 6

“The NAESEA STEAM Festival was an absolutely incredible, amazing and educational experience. I was able to explore my creativity and develop my knowledge to a whole other level. I managed to develop my collaborative and creative skills and I gained so much beneficial knowledge. My peers were such an amazing team to work with and I learnt so much from them. We also had great teachers who assisted us throughout the process but yet let us have independence.” - Kiana, Year 8
