Mr Rinaldi hosted a practical Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session based on Kagan, where teachers were given a refresher on a range of Kagan structures used at DCIS.
14 teachers volunteered to deliver a mini workshop in the style of a ‘TeachMeet’, based on a particular Kagan structure. It was a practical, engaging and an enjoyable CPD session. Theory was discussed, children’s work was shown and celebrated and teachers had the opportunity to see photos and videos of the children and the Kagan structures in action. Teachers were also involved in trying out some of these structures themselves!
The success of the session was down to the teachers. The preparation and planning from the 14 Kagan leaders were excellent and the contributions from the staff as a whole enabled us to have a very successful CPD session. Teachers will have come away with a bank of ideas ready to implement.
To have nearly 100 teachers discuss teaching and learning in this positive and enthusiastic way is very powerful.
