At the beginning of this school year, Nord Anglia Education embarked on an ambitious and exciting musical project called ‘Virtual Choir’ which brought together over 2,000 students from all 43 NAE schools across the globe.
The Virtual Choir were given an original piece for the project entitled ‘Wondrous Garden’, composed by the renowned British composer Jack Blume. The song is about our global community and embracing our similarities and differences, as well as our responsibilities to the past and to the future.
The first stage of the project involved the DCIS Choir rehearsing and recording an audio track. The students then came together and recorded the audio and video in the music room with the help of our wonderful DCTV student volunteers. Our recordings were then sent to London and edited together with the recordings from all the other NAE schools. Each school’s vocals and videos which were then mixed together to create one huge NAE Virtual Choir where children and staff from all over the world could sing together in harmony with one another. As you can see, groups ranged from small staff a capella groups to school choirs from entire schools. The piece includes solos, percussion and harmonies, all produced at the NAE recording studio.
The overall results are astounding, as the final edit highlights not only the sound quality of our various music departments, but also showcases our NAE campuses around the world.
See if you can spot the DCIS Choir in the mix!
