The Year 1 IPC topic this term is centered on celebrations and our assembly was a great opportunity to find out about the Hindu festival of lights. The children had made Deepavali art including rangoli, diya lamps and flame fans to decorate the stage. They sang "Clean Up", "Twinkle Twinkle" and "Let It Shine" to acknowledge the some of the facts of Deepavali. Students also narrated and performed a short play of the story of King Rama's return to Ayodhya where his way was lit by clay lamps. The students were very colourfully dressed and it was lots of fun.
