Dear DCIS Parents,
We were delighted to welcome some new families to our Primary School this term. I greatly enjoyed meeting you all at the coffee morning and hope that you are all settling in well. Just a few weeks in, it is already hard to tell who was newly arrived - that can only be a good thing! It is amazing to see how quickly the children settle in to their new routines and make new friends. Well done, everybody!
Despite this being a short half term, we have had a busy time in the Primary School. The term kicked off with the MIT trip to Boston, a fantastic opportunity. Lead by Mr Baines; Jaiveer, Jeongwoo, Giulia and Sofi, all from Year 5, headed off on a very long and tiring journey for a week of hands-on workshops and lectures at MIT. From what they told us upon their return, the children clearly had an amazing time, learning much as well as making many new friends from other Nord Anglia schools. Mr Baines was delighted with their enthusiasm and positivity. Well done to the team and a big thank you to Mr Baines for giving up his time to support the students. As well as this, our students in Years 4, 5 and 6 have enjoyed a day trip to Centre Stage which was clearly enjoyed by all. Our Year 2 students also had a great time at Snow City, another great hands on experience for our students to enjoy. We are now looking ahead to the Year 3 one night residential to the Singapore Zoo which I know is causing a stir of excitement as it fast approaches!
Our Primary squad also had a very successful time at the recent FOBISIA U11 Games in Phuket, Thailand. Forty students were supported by Mr Johnson, Mr Liperis, Miss Wells, Ms Good and great many parents as they competed in a range of disciplines including swimming, T-ball, football and athletics. The children did us proud and the jangle of medals around the corridors has been very real this week. Well done to each and every student for their individual and team achievements, and a huge thank you to the staff and parents for taking the time to train and support the team.
As ever, a big thank you to the parents for your ongoing support in the Primary School. Just a few reminders particularly regarding uniform; hair accessories should be dark or teal in colours, thank you for helping us with that. We also ask that children wear school shoes throughout the day and that trainers are worn only for PE lessons (Years 5 and 6) or PE days (Nursery-Year 4).
As the long weekend draws close, I wish you all a restful short break ahead. For those celebrating Vesak Day, I hope you enjoy the special day.
Best regards,
Ms Kara Lebihan
Head of Primary School
