Parent Update - 21 August 2015

21 August 2015

  • Year 1 assembly
  • Year 6 ice-breaking
  • Keyboard Lab

Dear Parents,

What a week! On Wednesday we welcomed all our new Year 1s. We have been amazed by how quickly they’ve settled in. This morning, on only their third day at ‘big’ school, almost all of them made their way –  by themselves or with their older brothers and sisters – to their classrooms. An amazing display of independence from our five year olds.

On Thursday, the rest of our Primary and Secondary students joined us, filling our school with the chatter of friends catching up after the long break, and welcoming our new students. It was lovely – and noisy – to have them all back!

Please take the time to print out our ‘Important Dates’ calendar (attached) and stick it on your fridge. These dates will go into the Firefly calendar, but in the meantime it’s a great overview of a busy year ahead. More details on each event will be sent closer to the time from me or your Class Teacher.

For ease, here is what’s coming up in the month ahead:

Please remember to log in to our new parent portal, FIREFLY. You can view your child’s timetable, homework, year blogs and updates from your class teacher and from my team.

Click on: https://naishk.fireflycloud.asia – and remember to use the same email (mum and/or dads) that you’ve provided to us. You can also access Firefly via our main website. Click on the tab on the top blue bar.

Importantly, please note that the ECA sign-up (next Friday) will be via Firefly, so please log-on before then!

SWIMMING – Click here for FAQs

Swimming classes start next week. We’re sure you’ll have lots of questions, so please remember to check our FAQs on our website, Firefly or Facebook. Your child’s swimming timetable is on Firefly, or you can double check with your Class Teacher. Most importantly, on PE days, please come in your normal uniform with your swimsuit, goggles, towel and swimming cap in a swimming bag. Please remember to clearly mark the swimming bag, towel, swimming cap and swim suit with your child’s name.

As a quick reminder, on Monday the following classes have swimming: 1C, 2D, 2E, 3B, 4D.

Speaking of swimming, we celebrated the opening of our pool today with a mass ‘jump-in’ by our 6A class, led by Stan Chang. Stan’s parents made a generous bid to the PTA at our Gala Dinner last term to allow Stan to be the first pupil in the pool. Stan kindly invited all his class to jump in and play too. We have some fabulous photos that we’ll be sharing early next week.

LUNCH – Click here

The new September lunch has been posted onto the website and Firefly. Please remember to send in your lunch forms next week for your September choice.

No sooner are we back at school, than we have a National holiday. Please note that school will be closed on Thursday 3 September.

Please enjoy your weekend. I’m sure that all our wonderful Year 1s are ready for a weekend break already. We look forward to seeing everyone back again on Monday.
