Hello from Primary!

Its a pleasure to welcome everyone back to NAIS Manila at the start of the new academic year.

welcome to primary wall

I hope that you have enjoyed your summer holiday. Whether that has been through travelling to meet family and friends, exploring different parts of the world, or catching up on some much needed rest!

Over the summer, our admin team have been working extremely hard and you will notice some exciting changes to our campus.

The library construction is complete and we are eagerly awaiting our delivery of furniture and books.

There is a new workspace for teachers to collaborate, as well as a new ICT room for students and parents to use.

We’ve rebranded the coffee shop to give it a more NAE feel, please pop by The Book and Crown for a coffee and catch up with friends.

A massive thanks must go to Bernice and her team!

Our teachers are back from their holidays and have just completed their induction week - this is a mixture of settling into life in Manila, team building and collaboratively working on professional development opportunities.

Although there may be a couple of faces that are new to the school, they are not necessarily new to us – many of the new teachers have worked with existing colleagues in previous international schools. The new teachers are keen to hit the ground running and I am sure that they will add to our team.

Please do say hello and give them a warm NAIS Manila welcome.

Throughout the academic year we have identified a couple of curriculum development areas (keep an eye out for the STEAM and Zippy’s Friends parent workshops), that we feel will enhance individual learning opportunities that already take place.

However, the teachers will be using the first few weeks to establish routines, set expectations and to really get to know the children. The individual ‘attachment’ between a pupil and teacher is something that we focus heavily on at NAIS Manila, as it is so very powerful.

At the start of the new academic year, the words of Sidney Hook still resonate...

Everyone who remembers his own education remembers teachers, not methods and techniques. The teacher is the heart of the educational system. Sidney Hook

I hope that you are looking forward to the upcoming school year as much as we are and I will see you all, at our first Class Parent Meet & Greet, on 6th September, Friday. Details for this event will be sent to you directly.
